STORY: The Netherlands prepared on Thursday (September 5) for their Euro 2020 qualifier against Germany in Hamburg on Friday (September 6), hoping they can turn around the result of their last encounter, when Ronald Koeman’s team conceded a 90th-minute winner in March and were beaten 3-2 at home.
Captain Virgil van Dijk speaking after a training session on Thursday, said that the German team has a “top level”, with a “good mix between experience and talent”.
Germany are without Leroy Sane, Julian Draxler, Thilo Kehrer and Antonio Ruediger due to various injuries and coach Joachim Loew earlier announced they would also be without Leon Goretzka.
The Dutch are third in Group C, with three points from two matches. Northern Ireland lead with 12 points from four games, with Germany second on nine from their three matches so far.
