LOS ANGELES — FC Dallas managed no shots on target Thursday en route to a 2-0 defeat at the hands of Major League Soccer-leading LAFC.
Carlos Vela and Diego Rossi scored for LAFC at Banc of California Stadium. FC Dallas goalkeeper Jesse Gonzalez made four saves.
The teams play again at 6:30 p.m. Sunday at Toyota Stadium in Frisco. LAFC has a Western Conference-best 30 points.
In the 39th minute, Vela, a Mexico International player, scored from the center of the box into the bottom left corner of the net. Eduardo Atuesta got the assist. It was his 13th goal in 13 games this season. Vela hit the crossbar on a free kick 10 minutes into the match.
In the 83rd minute, Rossi scored a walk-in goal into the bottom left corner, assisted by Adama Diomande. but the goal was initially waved off for offside on Diomande. Following video review, the call was overturned and the goal stood.
Thursday’s win was LAFC’s first over FC Dallas after FCD went unbeaten against LAFC in 2018.
